➩ Description

There is no better way to spend your long weekend than by going on a hike in the mountains and taking in the fresh air that is so limited in the urban areas that the majority of us are confined in. There is no other activity that comes close. After being confined to the four walls of your house, if you are an enthusiastic lover of nature or an adventure enthusiast who is seeking for an escape, then Dayara Bugyal is the right vacation for you. The Gangotri massif, Black peak, Bhgirathi massif, and Bandarpoonch massif are just some of the magnificent peaks that you will get to see on this 22-kilometer-long trek, which is perfect for trekkers of all experience levels because it offers such a rewarding opportunity to see some of the most magnificent peaks in the great Himalayan ranges. The first stop on this long weekend break that begins in Delhi is the town of Raithal, which serves both as a pit stop and as the starting point for the walk. Raithal is a tranquil hamlet that is set amid abundant vegetation and will immediately brighten your spirits. The next day, we will be travelling through oak woodlands in order to get at our campground in Chelapada. There, we will spend a peaceful night listening to the rustling sound of bugyal leaves as they fall in the background.

➩ Itinerary

We will pick you up at the Dehradun Train Station parking lot at 6:05 in the morning for the trip to Natin, which will take a total of seven hours. Natin is a picturesque town that is well known for its status as the starting point for the Dayara Bugyal trek. It's about a 38-kilometer drive from Uttarkashi to get there. It is encircled on all sides by verdant vegetation. The Bhagirathi River follows you all the way to the village as you make your way there. A passageway through the mountains is how one may characterise Raithal. As you reach the top of Moryana, you will be the first person to get a sight of Gangotri's Shrikanth peak. You may make a halt here if you wish to take photographs of the gorgeous peaks. When you get nearer to Natin, you will have a better opportunity to see the peaks of the surrounding mountains. One of these notable peaks is known as Shrikanth peak. This is the network that we have. The last significant market is located in Uttarkashi, while a lesser one can be found in Bhatwari. Spend the night at a small inn or visit a local family in their home for a unique cultural experience.

Get an early start on the journey by getting up early. The route takes you through some thick vegetation. The path leads to Gui, where you'll discover oak trees that are both silver and gold in colour. The ascent is gentle and not too difficult. It will take around four to five hours to get to the next site to rest along the way. Since there is no source of water along the path, you will need to carry along two litres of water with you. The campground is surrounded by alpine trees, which is completely different from having mountains nearby. You will discover several quaint village cottages in the area close to the camping spot. Gui provides a vista that is comparable to that of Raithal, with unobstructed views of Shrikanth peak and the Gangotri range. Under the cover of the night, you may refresh your energies as you relax.

The day ahead should go quite well. When the trees have been cleared, the path continues to gradually ascend until you reach Chelapada. This won't be a very long journey. The campground is located near to a creek, which may be easily accessed. You are responsible for carrying one litre of water with you today. It's possible that there are snow footprints along the route. In the campground, you will be given with a hot meal. On the Dayara Bugyal Trek, the vista from Bandarpoonch is absolutely breathtaking; nevertheless, there are many more spectacular peaks in the area. After lunch or before evening tea, you are free to explore the surrounding region.

The day of the summit has arrived. You will make it all the way to the top of Dayara today, and then you will make your way back down to your campground. The difficulty of this hike is somewhere in the middle. At the very summit, there is only a single water source. Check to ensure that you have sufficient water. As you make your way down through the woodland, the path begins to widen and opens out onto meadows. You won't have much choice but to make your way across those vibrantly coloured fields very soon. While you walk over this stunning landscape, which features amazing views of Bandarpoonch or other peaks, you won't be able to believe that you are getting closer to the summit. There is a possibility of seeing a thin river running through the area. Although if the last ascent is challenging, it is well worth the effort since it will reward you with breathtaking panoramas of Dodital. After that, you will arrive at the Gidara pass, which marks the beginning of the journey to Gidara Bugyal and Pichkiya. Before heading back to the campground, you are free to take your time and appreciate the breathtaking scenery that surrounds you. You are welcome to bring your own lunch with you. Camp out for the night in the Nayata location.

Your trek across the mountains of Dayara Bugyal comes to a conclusion today. Congratulations! Wake up early and begin packing your things in preparation for the journey down to Raithal. Throughout the path, your recollections of the days you spent climbing might come flooding back to you. It would seem like the summits of the mountains are trying to get your attention. Natin is a vibrant place that is teeming with children and villagers. Lunch will be served to you here, and it will be hot and wonderful. Spend the night in the guesthouse that Natin has provided.

Take pleasure in your last cup of morning tea at Natin. Take comfort in the kind wishes sent to you by your fellow hikers. After getting everyone together for a picture, you may then get in the taxi that will bring you back to Dehradun at 6:30 in the morning. You will go beside the Bhagirathi River, which served as your guide for the whole of the walk, as it will lead you between the valleys and mountains along the way. You are not permitted to have either breakfast or lunch while you are awake throughout the day. We should get in Dehradun between 3 and 4 in the afternoon. You are free to go on with the rest of your trip back to where you started from here. You will remember many exciting moments from your time in the mountains, and you will make a commitment to visit them again.

➩ Fitness

As you climb to higher altitudes, the air grows thinner and less oxygen is present. The amount of oxygen in our blood is equivalent to the proportion of haemoglobin that is saturated with oxygen. At altitudes above around 2,100 metres (7,000 feet), the amount of oxygen carried by our blood starts to decrease. At the same time, the human body possesses both immediate and long-term adaptations to altitude that help it somewhat compensate for the shortage of oxygen.
