➩ Description

A journey to the Do Dham is more than just a trip; it’s a soulful pilgrimage that connects you to the divine. Located amidst the serene and majestic landscapes of Uttarakhand, the Do Dham Yatra takes you to two of India’s most sacred temples — Kedarnath and Badrinath — both of which are steeped in rich history, spirituality, and breathtaking natural beauty.

The journey starts at Kedarnath, a temple nestled in the lap of the towering Garhwal Himalayas. At an elevation of 11,755 feet, this sacred site houses one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, attracting thousands of pilgrims every year. The trek to Kedarnath, winding through snow-capped peaks and lush valleys, feels like walking through a land where the air is thick with divinity and every step is a step closer to enlightenment. The temple’s timeless presence, with its sacred Shivling at the center, creates an aura of peace and devotion that envelops you, making the journey both physically challenging and spiritually transformative.

From Kedarnath, the journey leads to Badrinath, a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Situated at 10,200 feet above sea level, Badrinath is a place where the divine and the natural world come together in a magnificent display. The temple is surrounded by majestic mountains and rich forests, creating a perfect setting for meditation and prayer. Here, you can immerse yourself in the peaceful surroundings and soak in the divine energy that flows from the sacred Tapt Kund (hot spring) and other holy sites like Narad Kund and Triyuginarayan Temple. Each site offers a different facet of devotion and divine blessings, making this part of the journey as spiritually fulfilling as it is picturesque.

The route itself is an adventure, with scenic views, holy rivers like Mandakini and Alaknanda, and mystical places that echo with the tales of ancient Indian mythology. From the hustle and bustle of Haridwar to the quiet, spiritual sanctity of Badrinath, this tour offers an unparalleled opportunity for both reflection and discovery.

Embark on this sacred journey and experience a blend of adventure, divinity, and inner peace, making the Do Dham Yatra an unforgettable and life-changing experience.

➩ Itinerary

Your spiritual journey begins from Haridwar Railway Station. From here, we drive to Guptkashi, with a scenic stop at the Dhara Devi Temple enroute. This unique temple is situated on an island in the Alaknanda River. As we continue, you'll also pass through Srinagar, Rudraprayag, and Agastmuni, rich in both natural beauty and mythology. The legend says that the Pandavas sought to meet Lord Shiva here, but the Lord was in no mood to see them. Your overnight stay will be in Sonprayag, where you'll rest before the trek ahead.

Overnight Stay: Sonprayag

After an early breakfast, we drive from Sonprayag to Gauri Kund, a sacred hot spring where it is believed Mata Parvati bathed. From here, your 18 km trek to Kedarnath Temple begins. The path winds along the Mandakini River, and though it is a challenging trek, the stunning surroundings make it worthwhile. Once you reach Kedarnath, you'll be in awe of the temple, which is surrounded by the towering peaks of Kedar Kund, Kharchkund, and Bharatkund. The main temple is an architectural marvel, standing at 85 feet tall and 187 feet wide.

After offering your prayers and spending time at this sacred site, you can rest at a local hotel or ashram for the night.

Overnight Stay: Kedarnath

Start your day with another visit to Kedarnath Temple before beginning your descent to Gauri Kund. After the 18 km trek, we drive back to Sonprayag for an overnight stay, allowing you to relax and recover from the trek.

Overnight Stay: Sonprayag

On this day, you’ll head towards Badrinath, the second of the two dham temples on this spiritual journey. The drive is long but scenic, and when you reach Badrinath, you’ll be greeted by the majestic Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, situated at an altitude of 10,200 feet. The temple is an essential stop on the Chardham Yatra, and it is said that Mata Lakshmi saved Lord Vishnu by transforming into a Badri tree to shelter him from a storm. You’ll also have the chance to visit the Tapt Kund, a natural hot spring, and the Triyuginarayan Temple, where Lord Shiva is believed to have married Mata Parvati.

Don’t miss a visit to Bheempul, a famous bridge built by Bhima from the Mahabharata, and the Mana Village, the last village on the Indian side of the Indo-China border.

Overnight Stay: Badrinath

After enjoying your breakfast, you’ll have time for a final visit to the Badrinath Temple before packing your bags. On your way back, you’ll pass through Devprayag, where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers meet to form the Ganga. It’s a fitting spot to conclude this sacred journey.

Once we reach Haridwar or Rishikesh, we’ll drop you at the railway station for your onward journey, with fond memories of a life-changing trip.

➩ Fitness

As you climb to higher altitudes, the air grows thinner and less oxygen is present. The amount of oxygen in our blood is equivalent to the proportion of haemoglobin that is saturated with oxygen. At altitudes above around 2,100 metres (7,000 feet), the amount of oxygen carried by our blood starts to decrease. At the same time, the human body possesses both immediate and long-term adaptations to altitude that help it somewhat compensate for the shortage of oxygen.

A Great First Trek for Anyone Who Wants to Get Into Hiking:

  1. The Kedarkantha Trip is a Moderate level trek in terms of fitness requirements. The track is well-marked and has only modest inclines and declines. Water fountains may be seen at various points throughout the path. However, it’s still best to be ready if you’re planning your first major Himalayan trekking adventure. Here is a plan for getting in shape for the trip.
  2. Our hikes are typically designed such that you cover around 9 kilometres in six hours, however this might vary somewhat depending on the terrain. It’s about the same as walking 6 kilometres an hour over the plains, therefore the speed is around 1.5 kilometres per hour.
  3. Following this plan, you may train yourself to run 3 kilometres in 30 minutes. Always begin your workout routine with some light stretching and warm-up moves.
  4. Follow this training schedule for trekking fitness required:
  • Week 1: Walk for 10 minutes at a fast pace, jog for 10, and finish with a slow stroll for 10 minutes.
  • Week 2: 15 minutes of jogging, followed by a 5-minute brisk walk. A leisurely stroll that takes no more than 5 minutes
  • Week 3: Walk briskly for five minutes. Jogging for 15 minutes A brisk stroll that takes no more than 5 minutes
  • Week 4: Do a brisk 5-minute walk, then a 25-minute jog, and finish with a 5-minute cool down.

➩ Safety

Points to remember for safety in the trek:

  • It is essential that you arrive at the starting point of any hike or excursion in the best possible physical condition and readiness.
  • The hike is not tough; in fact, if you can keep both your feet and your mind calm and strong during the journey, you will discover that the hike is rather simple.
  • When you are out on a hike, bear in mind that you may not always be with your guide and that you may not always be on the correct trail.
  • The majority of individuals glance both where they are going and where they are going while they are walking; this might produce twitching in your legs, which can make the whole journey difficult.
  • It is imperative that you see your physician if you are experiencing any kind of health issue.
  • It is imperative that I have my medical equipment with me at all times; it is of the utmost significance.
  • Indiantreks will ensure that you have a fully stocked first aid kit at all times, including oxygen cylinders and other medications that may be required throughout the trek.
  • In the event that any of the trekkers have any more difficulties, the stretcher is used to transport them back to the base camp.
  • During the Kedarkantha walk, our camp is situated close to the tree line, so you won’t have any trouble getting enough oxygen there.
